The song “Create in me a clean heart” comes from this Psalm. This is a Psalm David wrote after the Prophet Nathan confronted him about what he did with Bath-sheba. God sees everything, and He wants us repent of our sins. He doesn’t want us to have a broken relationship with Him. Have a blessed day.
PRAY Dear Lord, prepare my heart and mind to be with You always. I bow before Your throne as You are my Lord and my God. In Jesus’ precious name I pray. Amen.

To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, when Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba.
Ps. 51:1. Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
51:2. Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
51:3. For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
51:4. Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
51:5. Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
51:6. Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
51:7. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
51:8. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.
51:9. Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
51:10. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
51:11. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
51:12. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
51:13. Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
51:14. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.
51:15. O LORD, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.
51:16. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.
51:17. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
51:18. Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.
51:19. Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
REFLECT Why is it so important to confess your sins? How can you be confident that God will forgive you? What help does this psalm give you?
It is important to confess sin as soon as you recognize it as sin, because it will eat you alive if you don’t. Satan is a liar. The longer you know about your sin and continue in it, you will dull your senses to it, and you will harm your relationship with God. This is what satan wants.
It’s always easier to confess your sin right away. I know it may seem hard, but trust me. It gets more hard down the road.
No matter when, however, I confess my sins to God, I am confident He will forgive me. Why? He said He would. I am standing on the promises of God!
I also know He will forgive me, because He sent His Son to die in my place on that terrible cross. He then raised Him three days later, and thereby fulfilled the Scripture. Praise God, hallelujah, and Amen!
APPLY Find a quiet place to reflect on your life this week. List any sins you recall. Write them on paper, confess them, ask God’s forgiveness and then tear up the paper.
PRAY Thank You, Father God, for the every of the so many sins You have already forgiven. Thank You also for Your patience and tender mercies toward me. In Jesus’precious name I pray. Amen.
