Give Thanks, O My Lord

November 23, 2006 by Rosemary Welch

On this beautiful day of life, I give thanks to God Almighty. Without His Providence, this beautiful land, our hope in the future of mankind, our love for one another, our gratitude, our mercy, all of these gifts would be devoid of meaning.

O gracious Lord, thank you for all You have provided for Your children. I pray You will continue to watch over us, and heal our land. On this day, it is to You whom I give thanks first and foremost. As is the case for everyday that I arise from the slumber of the day before’s stresses, challenges, and rewards. Thank You, Lord.

I also give thanks that I was born in the greatest union that has ever existed on earth, except for the Garden of Eden. I am grateful for the liberties that abound, the rights-given from above so no one shall abscound with them without a fight, the lives of so many who are continuing in this struggle to keep our land free by force and by politics, and I am grateful for my friends and family. I am truly blessed.

I am very grateful to all of our heroes who will go out to do the dangerous work it takes to keep a country free. They sacrifice for pennies, they live in horrendous conditions sometimes, they follow orders that sometimes make no sense, and they do this for your family and mine. They do this willingly. They are the true heroes of this day.

They have given us the right to gather amongst our loved ones (or not, lol), while they are far away. Let us take a moment to remember them, even if a moment is all you can spare.

Today is a hectic day. Today is the day when Mom brings everyone together, cooks all the food, stops all the petty bickering, and has it all done just when you can’t stand the hunger anymore. Mom is a hero as well.

Dad is the one that organizes who gets to sit near him while the ‘game’ is on TV. lol. Dad’s, we salute you also today. We are grateful for the lives that both Mom and you have provided for us (even though we did not understand half of it. lol).

Dear, dear friends. What can I say? You are an exceptional group of people who make life worth getting up every morning. Thank you.

My dear Sherry, I can understand being down. Those are some tough things to handle without salvation.

We are so fortunate to have a loving God who gave His One and Only Son as a sacrifice so that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life!

It may be difficult to do, but maybe if you look at the bright side of things? You have a neighbor, I do not. You were able to fix everything that went wrong. Thanks be to God nobody was killed by a drunk driver. That cannot be fixed.

We need to set our eyes upon Him. Believe me, I know how hard that is sometimes! I can also share with you that when I do this, it is the Peace that the world cannot understand (Phil 4:2-6) that overcomes me. I’ll take that anyday over the material things this world has to offer. (I would be very distraut if I did not have my computer! Don’t get the wrong message. πŸ˜‰

I was just joshing you when I said that about Turkey day. Kind of. I’m not a censor. You call it what you like. (Thank you for apologizing. πŸ˜‰

It is so very nice to have you back. You are truly a blessing to me. I pray everything goes well for you from this time forward. You have been through the fire, and you have overcome. Praise God!

I apologize for calling it Turkey Day. I did give thanks for everything and yet I had to give something back as well. My stove caught on fire while I was trying to clean it. (Self Cleaning) Needless to say, I didn’t have a stove. A good neighbor said we could borrow his old one. It just seems everything has gone wrong. First the hard drive, then when I got that fixed, the graphics card went bye bye, now that it’s fixed, the monitor went out. Got a new one though, washing machine broke down, got that fixed, hmmmm….what else went wrong? Too many to name. Christmas? Did u say Christmas was a holiday? I had no clue it was. LOL I’m trying to keep my spirits up but it’s hard right now.

On the upside of things, my Ohio State Buckeyes are going to the National Title game.

My email works, I need to update my site now. I just pray nothing else goes wrong.

Oh my! I hope everything is alright.

Just one little quirk I have. I don’t like Thanksgiving Day to be referred to as turkey day. It is almost like calling Christmas a holiday. A holiday? Which one?

The purpose of Thanksgiving is to give thanks. It is NOT to eat turkey. πŸ˜‰

Yes, I was getting a little worried. Could you please post your updated URL? I was moving around my links, and I noticed I had the wrong URL. I’d really appreciate it. Thank you.

Hiya Rosemary, long time no talk. How are you? I’m back online now…I bet you are wondering huh? LOL Well, first the hard drive died out. then….the graphics card… then I lost my stove in a mini housefire on Turkey day. But other than that, I’m back now…hehehehe.
